What is ScamSlam?+
ScamSlam is a free, community-powered service for reporting and looking up scam phone numbers and websites. Anyone can report a scam in about fifteen seconds, and anyone can check a number or website before responding to it.
How do I report a scam?+
Go to the report page, paste the scammer’s phone number or website, choose the type of scam, and optionally add a note. That’s it — the report is added to our public database immediately.
Do I need an account to report?+
No. Reporting is completely open and anonymous. Creating a free account is optional — it lets you appear on the leaderboard and get credit for the scams you report, but it’s never required.
What happens to a scam after I report it?+
It’s added to our public database and ranked by how many people have reported it. Reported scam websites are automatically forwarded to anti-phishing organizations, and every report generates one-click links to file with the FTC, FCC, and other authorities.
Are the reports verified?+
No. Reports are submitted by the public and are unverified. Treat them as warnings and use your own judgment. A number or website being reported many times for the same kind of scam is a strong signal, but it isn’t proof.
Can you get my money back?+
No. ScamSlam is a reporting and awareness tool, not a recovery service. If you’ve lost money, contact your bank immediately and file a report with the FBI’s IC3 at ic3.gov. Be very cautious of anyone who offers to recover your funds for a fee — that’s a common follow-up scam.
Why can’t scam phone numbers be reported to the government automatically?+
No U.S. agency (the FTC, FCC, or FBI) offers a way for a website to submit phone-scam reports automatically — they only accept reports through their own web forms. So for phone numbers, we give you one-click links to file the report yourself. For scam websites, we can and do forward reports automatically to anti-phishing organizations.

How do I look up a number or website?+
Use the search on the look-up page or the homepage. Enter a phone number or website and we’ll tell you whether it’s been reported and what kind of scam it’s associated with.
Is ScamSlam free?+
Yes, completely free. The site is supported by advertising so it can stay that way.
